individual property

Marriage doesn't mean all of your property should be jointly owned by both of you, the following property shall be owned by yourself:

a. the pre-marital property
The pre-marital property is still your individual property after your marriage, such as the savings, real estate, stock rights, etc. owned by yourself before your marriage. However, your profit and bonus incurred from your pre-marital company stock rights and house-leasing , in China, generally will be regarded as jointly owned property.

b. the payment for medical treatment or living subsidies for the disabled arising from bodily injury on either party.

c. any property inherited or bestowed specially for either party. For example, your mother left 10 million dollars after her death. In your mother's will , only you have the right to inherit the 10 million dollars excluding anyone else. As other example, your uncle will bestow one million dollars to you and the same clauses were written in the bestowal contract. All in all, marriage doesn't stand for your right to own or dispose your husband/wife's property.
